Greetings,
We are very excited to announce that our podcast, The Anti-Authoritarian Podcast, will be launching this week!
When I first got involved in this work, authoritarians were just getting their sea legs. Now, 71% of the people of the world live under autocratic governments - that’s up from 46% just 10 years ago. And here in the U.S., we are teetering on the brink of a federal authoritarian takeover.
The Anti-Authoritarian Podcast will be a platform to explore strategy questions with myself, Sue Hyde, and pro-democracy leaders in the U.S. and globally. How did we get into this mess? What must we do as democracy defenders to counter this attack, create a new message that resonates to people's real problems, and build a feminist, multi-racial democracy?
We hope this podcast will be a critical resource for people in the U.S. and globally who are standing up to unjust power and building upon the democratic promise of the U.S.
Our first episode features Suzanne Pharr, the legendary leader of feminist pro-democracy and anti-authoritarian movements and the author of two books - Homophobia: A Weapon of Sexism, and In the Time of the Right: Reflections on Liberation (1996). Suzanne shares wisdom gained over 60+ years as a feminist and LGBTQ leader.
Our premier episode will be released Thursday, July 25th. The trailer is live on Convergence Magazine’s website and you can subscribe on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever else you listen to your podcasts. We hope you will subscribe, share with your colleagues, and spark the conversations we need to have if we are going to win.
